Christ is Risen!
A Climate Revival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Boston, Massachusetts (USA) on Saturday, April 27, an ecumenical festival of preaching, prayer and music to inspire Christians across New England with Resurrection hope and resolve as we face the climate crisis.
The Episcopal Church’s Presiding Bishop, Katharine Jefferts Schori, and UCC General Minister and President Geoffrey Black have agreed to preach at the Revival. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. at Old South Church, and will end at Trinity Church at 3:00 p.m., followed by a climate justice rally held outside in Copley Square that ends at 4:00 p.m.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu and renowned climate leader Bill McKibben will participate via DVD. Episcopal bishops from across New England will be coming, as will leaders from UCC, Lutheran, Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, and other Christian traditions. At lunchtime, we’ll hold a public round-table conversation between writer/climate activist Wen Stephenson and several top denominational leaders.
Organizers have been touched to see how many people are eager to strengthen our Christian response to the climate crisis, and our witness to the Risen Christ.
